doesn't specifically mention breastfeeding, but this "corrections center has gained national recognition for its programs for pregnant inmates, is also believed to be the only prison in the U.S. to offer expectant mothers and those who already have given birth access to trained doulas" and I think it certainly provides an environment conducive to a nursing relationship by allowing the inmates involved in the program to "keep their children with them from birth until the end of their sentence or until the child is 2-½ years old, whichever comes sooner"

The doulas act as birth attendants, run a weekly support group, and offer one-on-one counseling.

"All of the program participants get about $212 a month from the state Department of Social and Health Services to pay for diapers, wipes, lotions, food and other baby necessities,"- which I bet wouldn't cover a lot of formula!

I wonder what the breastfeeding rates are in this program? I'd guess high!
