There can be a slight difference in cost in recertifying exam vs cerps. The actual fees are the same, IBLCE changed this several years ago I think, so there was no monetary advantage of one over the other. There are the fees for the cerps themselves, but both times I sat the exam in Jackson MS, traveling from New Orleans, I had to pay travel costs, hotel, and meals. These costs were not reimbursed by any employer. Also missing work and being away from home. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to recertify by exam every 5 yrs. I didn't study at 10 yrs and scored high.
I would like for there to be a way to take the test on computer at your local site, with some type of proctoring system. On the other hand, this would mean I would never have to take any continuing education, but only pass an entry level exam every 5 yrs. So to really get a better practitioner, it might be better to just do cerps; maybe after you've tested 2x???
