In a message dated 98-06-03 16:11:27 EDT, you write:

<< I agree....be very careful what you are asking for and getting. I just
spent a month trying to help a mom recover her milk supply after she
assured me the OB had prescribed the progestin only pill. When I finally
sought her medical record to verify the product, it was, indeed, an ocp
with a similar sounding name, but it was a combined ocp. When contacted,
the OB casually said "Oh, I'm sorry, I can't keep those two straight".
 They are very different products!

This is truly scary! Was the mother's supply reduced enough to
necessitate supplementation with an ABM? The Doctor's casual
attitude regarding his horrendous error is ludicrous!! Perhaps he needs
an education on hazards of ABM. Think how many mothers might have
had this same mistake made on them and then given up on breastfeeding
due to reduced supply. I wonder if anyone has ever filed a malpractice
lawsuit against a Doctor for the loss of breastmilk and possible consequences
to their child. Anybody? Are am I just in a bad mood and fed up with
undereducated HCPs thinking they know enough about breastfeeding to get
by without further education?
