Munchhausen By Proxy is the disorder that you are looking for Kathleen.
This is where the (usually) mother continues to take the baby to doctors
looking for ailmanets that are non- existant.  The mother inflicts symptoms
on the baby- like starving him or whatever.

It is easy to be judgemental and say that these mothers are kooks, but this
is a real and dangerous disorder.

I for one may wonder if this is what a mother is doing when nothing works.
It is important to chart everything and keep the childs doctor informed.
But I am not qualified to diagnose a psychiatric disorder, nor are most of
us here.
