This is one of those things for which mother-to-mother support group
meetings are so great -- although we sometimes would like to have
meetings in a room with enough beds to go around. :-)

On a related matter, are there specific references on relative risk
between back and side sleeping for co-sleeping and breastfeeding
infants? I have found references that suggest that when infants
co-sleep, they often face the mother sideways, and can be latched on for
extended periods of time. The exchange of breath has been linked to
protection for SIDS, as has the frequent arousal in breastfed babies. It
is the recommendation that when the baby is finished feeding he should
be repositioned on his back that I am attempting to better understand.
(Or perhaps it is the idea of "finished feeding" or "repositioning" that
I am questioning, in terms of normal sleep patterns during which a baby
may doze off with the nipple in his mouth, etc.)
