Darillyn,
Awesome advice!!! I wonder if prenatal vitamins would provide the same results? I will check with her to see if she's still taking hers.

I don't know if it was like this mom's case, but thought I would share it, just in case. Mine were deep fissures at the base of both nipples, which just would not heal. I'd try things like nursing one sided and hand expressing the other, for up to 48 hours. The fissure on that side would look well healed but tear open as soon as the baby latched. Pumps hurt more than the baby did. After a couple of months, I thought about how I had also had some signs of fat-soluble vitamins, which I think were made worse when I lost my gall bladder. I started taking supplements of vit. A and E. They started to close up almost immediately and, after 2 or 3 days, they were completely closed. Further evidence that the vitamins did the trick is found in the fact that I was nursing that baby and/or his younger sister, for three more years. If I went more than a few days without my vitamins, the same spots would start to open up again. When I took them, the fissured would soon be closed.
