Dear Friends:
What does the evidence say about cabbage? What sort of cabbage? Organic
or non-organic? How long to use it? How does it work? If it works with the
same mechanism as a patch, then isn't it a drug delivery system and aren't
people who tell others to use it prescribing? How does it look to other
health care professionals when LCs tell moms to use it? Does it boost our
professional standing? Is the cabbage in Europe the same as the cabbage grown
in the USA?
The evidence for the use of cabbage is scanty. It doesn't seem to do
harm, except for the baby that I heard about from Australia that got a
listeria infection that was traced to cabbage use.
     We need some good studies.
     Warmly,
Nikki Lee RN, MSN, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CIMI, CCE
