This may just be my opinion and I do not mean to upset anyone BUT I actually take offence to this post.

One day i looked through many online sources and wrote down every 'american' food that is 'thought' to help aid with milk production. Remember this is just food not herbs and I came up with over 1.5 pages. If we were to make a list of all the foods and herbs that are thought around the world to assist a mother with milk production it would be very, very long.

I am a skilled and I do think of myself as a competent IBCLC. I have never heard of moringa before either.

There are so many 'specialties' of the IBCLC and I do not believe there is any way for any one IBCLC to be perfectly skilled in every area. As an LC I will continue to grow and learn every day/week/month/year but i will never learn everything. It's just not possible. What is possible is to recognize that different IBCLC's have different 'passions' or area's that they are more skilled in. This forum has provided me with the realization of knowing that i will not learn everything BUT I have learned who knows what. Certain LC's have more expertise in: knowing how different maternal diseases effect milk production, what is code-compliant, adoption, law, ankyloglossia and the list goes on. I know that i do not have to learn everything (nor is there any way i could) but i know who i can contact when i need a little extra help. I will now add you to my list of people who have more expertise in the area of herbs.

I have been recommending moringa for over a decade, long before GoLacta was on the market. My clients used to order it from an Indian market online. I would like to suggest that IBCLCs make it a priority to become acquainted with the foods and herbs that support milk supply. I have very few clients ever even consider domperidone anymore (and none take reglan) because we can use food, homeopathy and herbs with excellent outcomes. I have helped mothers wean off domperidone with moringa. We have an obligation to be familiar with and IMO competent with these nutrients if we are to be considered skilled providers. It is not okay, IMO that mothers need to get their best breastfeeding advice on FB, AFTER they have already seen one or more IBCLCs.
