I have two sons, now 14 and 11 .
The 2nd one had a very fast gain. Born 3,200 gr (sorry , I don't use lbs in
Italy), at month 4 he was 8 kgs . he was like a "little Buddha".
Now he's about 40 kgs, 145 cm, really a nice little boy. Noone can imagine
he was so "fat" :-)
I met many years ago a mom, in my LLLL work, with a little boy that in the
1st two months of life gained 4 kilos (2 each month). He was the most fast
gaining I had in my experience

Interestingly I have two clients reporting that their exclusively babies may
be obese.. one is 20 lbs at 4 months of age. They are indeed off the
charts, even the WHO charts. One provider has suggested that the infant be
kept from feeding so often.
I have reassured the moms that breastfed babies gain quickly the first
several months then slow the latter half of the first year. I will continue
to search for some evidence to support my claim and then will have a
conversation with the provider(s). Does anyone have something valuable at
their fingertips?
