Two of my children used baby-talk versions of "this" as a nursing code word. Apparently I'd said to them "do you want this?" while indicating my breast and they picked up the word. With Dan, it came out "nit" and as he got older he'd say "I want to knit." People thought it was quite odd that this two-year-old was so interested in knitting, and one friend asked my sister "why did Teresa take her little boy into the bedroom to knit?"

Jeremy's pronunciation was "dit" which was awfully close to another slang word for breasts.

I do hear "boob" or "boobie" used fairly often, actually. I think it depends on the community - and whatever words the mother feels comfortable with.
