Thankyou Dr.Jack for your prompt reply. The reason I asked these questions
is because in R.Lawrences book, Breastfeeding: A guide for the medical
profession 1999. Page 893 she lists reasons for temporary disqualification
for active donors. The first on the list is any acute infection including
fungal infections. This is always a problem for me, as the only LC in a
Childrens Hospital, the Dr. in charge of the NICU always wants to know how
long that these mothers should be diqualified from donating. Not sure of my
source anymore but I thought 2 weeks? Dr.Lawrence doesn't say exactly how
long in comparison to the other listed cases.

The second querie I had was about donating after having had Salmonella.
Firstly this mother was not allowed to give her own baby, a 29 weeker at
that stage her own milk!!! Not very good in my opinion, but this is what
the Dr. ordered. (both Mum and Babe had Salmonella). In addition to this
she was not and is still not allowed to donate milk to our milk bank,
although this infection was 3 months ago!!!! I stand alone when I don't
have something black on white in my hands, and this preferably from a Dr.
This mother still has lots of milk, and will probably never use it all.

Thanks for reading this.
