Denny, I did try the whole range you mentioned, but really seemed to work
was going with my son inhis fears and tell what it was what he saw (in his
case it were wolves and bears chasing him; it was not a nigtmare, he was
awake, but in a different world and would not recognise me). I then would
take him into the bathroom with it's bright light, put him on top of the
washingmachine and started chasing the monsters with him. I would make big
movements with my arms and using a deep, loud voice ordered the animals to
go away and never to come back again. I felt a bit like a sjaman doing so
:-) but it worked. Then I'd ask my son: where are you? are you with mama
again? Where's mama? etc. Untill he answered: I'm here with you mama. Then
he would indeed take a deep breath and return to his bed and fall asleep.
Now (age 17) he has these terrors in some other way when he has a fever. He
seems to know that it is not real what he experiences, but is not able to
make it go away. He will still come to my bed than, is fuzzed, uncontrolled
and mildly agressive, but he's also almost 2meter long, very strong and
weights around 100kg, so these times it's more like a terror for me :-)
