There is currently an interesting article posted on Medscape Women's Health
on the issue of postpartum edema.
D Reynolds, Severe Gestational Edema, from J Midwifery & Women's Health,
posted 5-20-03 Medscape Women's Health
Abstract: "Lower extremity edema is an almost universal finding in late
pregnancy, occurring secondary to increased venous pressure in the legs,
obstruction of lymphatic flow, and reduced plasma colloid osmotic pressure."
