Please consdier the following information, derived from a recent
publication (sorry it is not in front of me to give you the exact
reference) which compared P....x teats with other kinds including the
so-called orthodontic (which, of course, are no more orthodontic exercises
than any other rubber or silicone teat).

Outcome of their findingswas that the P.....x teat was substantially
different from the others, tended to provide TOO MUCH milk TOO FAST with
LEAST AMOUNT of negative pressure, thus increaseing the risk of aspiration
and choking, esp. in preterm or hypotonic babies unable to tolerate such a
rapid flow.

The "orthodontics" also flowed faster than the regular kinds, but were much
less likely to do so with no or minimum pressure, and so was deemed "safer"
than the P.....x.

There you have it folks. Too bad these researchers were not able to
compare their findings on artificial teats with the REAL THING, a breast in
the mouth of the baby.... (but there would be substantial methodological
difficulties in doing so.... :-)
