(I'm not part of ILCA, but I thought this was an excellent idea, and that there may be people interested in being a
part of this, so thought I'd point it out.

"Media Response Team" Volunteers Needed!

see http://www.ilca.org/news/mediaresponse.php

The time is right!

Breastfeeding is "in the news" both in the U.S. and worldwide. Media
interest in breastfeeding has steadily increased in the U.S. thanks
to the controversy over the U.S. National Breastfeeding Campaign, and
more and more reporters are now wondering about the role of IBCLCs in
helping mothers and babies get off to a good start. We expect those
requests to skyrocket as the campaign unfolds, and as worldwide
interest in breastfeeding continues to climb.

ILCA routinely receives "rapid response" requests from media outlets
for qualified clinicians and promotion experts to provide assistance
with lactation-related stories. ILCA is forming a MEDIA RESPONSE TEAM
of members who are confident and comfortable fielding questions from
reporters. This team is not just a U.S. effort, but will include ILCA
members in all countries who are available to respond to the growing
number of media requests.

If YOU are interested, please let us know today! The MEDIA RESPONSE
TEAM is in need of capable spokespersons in the following areas:

(1) Clinical lactation issues (prevention and management of common
problems)

(2) Advanced clinical lactation issues (dealing with challenging
breastfeeding issues)

(3) Role of IBCLCs as part of the health care delivery team
(including the process for becoming an IBCLC)

(4) Promotion of breastfeeding (including benefits of breastfeeding,
addressing common myths, and overcoming barriers)

(5) Supporting mothers who return to work

Please contact the ILCA Office today if you are interested by sending
us the "Media Response Team" form to tell us a little more about
yourself. You may e-mail the form to the ILCA Office at:
[log in to unmask], or fax it to (919) 787-4916. For more information,
call the office at (919) 861-5577.

Thank you so much.and remember. ILCA is YOU!

ILCA President
