I would just like to add a comment to the discussion and conferences and
pumping rooms. I just attended one of our local lactation confereces, and
had a fantastic time. One thing that bothered me though was that the
pumping room they provided was on the 2nd floor of the hotel, which meant I
had to get someone to take me up there, let me in the room (they use cards
at these hotels), set up my PNS, sit down and pump, wash up the parts, and
then try to get back downstairs in the 15 minute break that they gave us,
or chance missing part of the lectures. Well, after the first time of
missing the first part, and being out of breath. I proceeded to set myself
up at the back of the room, and just pumped at the table back there. I
made sure I was not disturbing the people sitting in front of me (with the
noise from the pump). It worked great for me, and I did not miss part of
the sessions, or lunch! We only had a total of about 3 babies at our
conference, and only 1 of the babies was loud enough to disturbe other
people. This mom was frustrated too, but what can you do, you can't reason
with a six month old! :-)
