I saw a mom & babe on Saturday. Sixth try at adoption, even been
outside delivery room with a couple that fell thru. They feel really
good about this one. Babe was 33+ wks, 3lb 15oz. He is now 18 days old
(36-37 wks) and weighs 5-3. He has been home with the adoptive parents
for 1 wk.

The parents were obviously upset when babe cried and cried. He never
latched with a shield or supplemental nurser. Mom finally BOF at the
breast. I enc lots of skin to skin, rebirthing bath, sleep with babe
and don't make it a fight. Left mom with a hospital grade pump and
instructions.

I really thought I'd lost these parents. Dad had not even been able to
stay in the room. Mom stated, tearfully, "That's the most upset he's
(baby) ever been." Last night the mom called with ??? re: diet and
exclaimed "I'm already getting colostrum!" She said it was just a few
drops but that she gave it to him. (Ironically, this mom del a full
term babe at age 20 & gave it up for adoption. Now has been trying to
get pregnant for 8 yrs)

I will search as time & resources allow (still packed in boxes and
address book in cyberspace). Any wisdom appreciated.
