A study is quoted:
"In our study population fluid supplements offered by bottle with or
>> without the use of pacifiers during the first 5 days of life were not
>> associated with a lower prevalence or shorter duration of breastfeeding
> > during the first 6 months of life."

When I read these words, I am left wondering. What was the average duration
of BF in the study population? What was the prevalence, even?

This one quote would prompt me to go to the original article and find the
actual numbers. What if only 30% of the study population initiated BF, or
the average duration was only 4 weeks? It might well be hard to discern an
effect of bottles in that case.
How big was the study? Do their numbers reach statistical significance?
Who funded it? Who published it? What was the researchers' agenda?

Since as Heather W. Neil pointed out, this study is contradictory to many,
many other studies into the same topic, it should be carefully examined to
try to find out WHY.
