Anecdotal response to Heather's query about "increased size of lymph nodes
in the armpit is normal occurrence during bf": I had a suspicious lump
checked out by a surgeon specializing in breast cancer (while still nursing
#2 at 18 mos.) and he said it was a lymph node under my arm that had swollen
during a past bout with mastitis or plugged duct and may not ever go back to
normal size. I check it regularly and it is still enlarged. So I guess one
might surmise that this can be a normal occurrence in mothers who have had
some disease process to cause the enlargement of the lymph nodes. Not
necessarily normal in all nursing moms. Any new lumps that don't respond as
a plugged duct should definitely be checked out, as I'm sure we all know.
As for the Lactnet meeting in KC, I was there and everything Tom
Hale said was TRUE and I live in fear that I will be kicked out so I am no
longer LURKING! I am posting, Evi! (She said at the meeting, "We know who
you are, Becky.")
