Hi all,

I have a client who birthed a healthy 6# 4 oz baby at 36 weeks gestation ( after 3 days of IV fluids) via c/section.

Baby has great rooting reflex and feeding cues and is fed on demand and sometimes waked if pattern of feeding spaces out.

Baby dropped to 5 #10 oz in the hospital by day 3,
and at day 7 was back to 5#12 oz,
and by 2 weeks (today) is up to 6# 1 oz. I

copied the ABM papers on the 35-37 week infants and breastfeeding and mom feels as though all is going well and baby is steadily gaining.

Her physician is skeptical and thinking about recommending supplementation with formula. Mother already knows how to pump and dropper feed for supplement ( did that while in hospital to bring it up a bit to be discharged). I am having trouble finding a growth chart of information on the growth patterns of marginal preterm babies. I did find information on adjusting the CDC growth charts for babies <40 weeks gestation, but no information on how to adjust it or the "normal" growth patterns. I am trying to help the mother gather information to present to the doctor and work on a plan that makes them both happy.

Can anyone help me find a good reference with numbers (which is what the MD wants, is numbers!) because at 2 weeks this 36 weeker was not back at birth weight.

Thanks in advance,
