In a recent thread many were questioning the info only to have it
pointed out that the original subject related to adoptive nursing,
not regular nursing of one's biological child. This reminds me on a
number of past posts, some of them mine, where Lactnetters picked up
on one small comment and ran with it completely missing the primary
point of the original post. In fact, at one point I almost decided
never to post again for fear of being so misinterpreted.
(Fortunately, I can't even remember the subject at this point.)
We all need to remember to completely read a posting (maybe even
more than once) before responding, expecially if we intend to
question or gently criticise something in the post. Certainly there
are times when a comment in a posting triggers a thought or question
not specifically related to the main point of the original post.
I'm not saying we shouldn't express these thoughts. Perhaps
preceding such thoughts with a comment such as, "Suzie's recent
question about xxxxxxx set me to thinking about xxxxxxxx. On that
side topic I would like to say xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx." would avoid
problems and/or hurt feelings.
Winnie
