Becky,i cannot give you answers for everything this mom is
experiencing.however, the numbness you describe in the arm thumb and 3
fingers
sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome. It is a possible "side effect" of
pregnancy.I had it with my last pregnancy. quite annoying.I found it
worse at night, sleeping close to the edge of the bed with my arm
hanging over the edge helped relieve the pain and numbness. both
arms/hands were affected,so i switched from one side to the other. . .
fluid retention in pregnancy causes it.after a few weeks after delivery,
it went away, once a lot of the retained fluid had dissipated. my sis in
law had it too. . . it took longer for hers to go away after delivery.

this may or may not be what is causing this mom's numbness.did she have
it during preg too? chiropractic might help. i was seeing one during my
preg for overall edema, part. my feet. . . but had only gone a few times
before baby came a month early. so i didn't have enough adjustments to
really notice a difference.

is back pain due to improper positioning or mom needing more pillows etc?

hope this idea is helpful to you.
