Hi all -- I did a home visit last week to a mom who was in pain, sore
nipples, one week old baby.  Positioning looked good, did some minor  adjustments
and treated sore nipples appropriately.  She began pumping for  a few days until
soreness and wounds healed and seemed better except that her  nipples
remained super sensitive to anything brushing against them, even the  air!  She says
that even when not bfeeding, if her husband rolls over in  bed and brushes
against her nipples, it hurts and she jumps.  She doesn't  seem to have any other
symptoms of anything like Raynaud's (no cold extremeties,  etc) and though I
have referred her back to her OB to check for that, she says  she cannot see
him until this Thursday (six days from now).  There doesn't  appear to be
thrush in her or the baby and she has had no antibiotics.  She  says that she can
bear the pain when the baby first latches on because it  subsides once he
begins nursing, BUT, when he is done and she removes him that  is when the pain
really starts as her breasts hit the air.  In the  meantime, she calls me at
least once a day if not more, and I am hitting a wall  at this point.  Any
