Hi all,

Well I have a few min. to reply to a few notes on the net.

Niplet: The company who makes the niplet can not get FDA approval to sell in
the US. I have been waiting for it for 3 years. I hope they make it soon. We
do not use the syringe around here.

Non-nursing mastitis: About 15 years ago I had a young mother tell me that she
had a scar on her breast from a mastitis that went into abscess. She never had
children when this happened. Through the years I have had women tell me the
same thing. I had a friend have a bought with mastitis when her last child was
15. This does happen. As other's have said, you must have them check for
cancer. Most of the ones I have worked with did have a benign mass that was
removed.

Colostrum or what I tell mothers: I like to have mothers think of colostrum as
cheese. It is milk that is being made in the breast during pregnancy. It is
aging very nicely so it is heavy and rich like cheese. One only need a small
piece of cheese vs. glasses of milk.

Hope this helps. Diane Herforth, BAE,IBCLC,ICCE, Tacoma, WA
