Hi everyone,

I'm new to this list and I'm not sure if this is the way to send a
message, but I'll try it anyway. I wanted to ask you, how common is for a
baby to lactose intolerant and not be able to drink mom's milk?? When
this happens, is there a better solution than going to lactose-free
formula?? Is there any proof that lactose-free formula actually improves
the situation?? Baby right now seems to be colicky (7 weeks old),
especially at nights, and there is a question about lactose intolerance
because mom is lactose intolerant.

I know I should probably have the answer for this, since I am a CLC, but
when it's about my baby all my knowledge goes out the window and I become
just a regular mom wanting to exclusively breastfeed her baby but worried
about her and a little overwhelmed by the "advice" given by friends and
family members to "give her bottles of chamomile or anise to sooth her
belly" "check for lactose intolerance, maybe my milk is causing it", etc.
and I just need some reassurance and support!

Thanks and I'm very thankful to Mary Lewis for connecting me with this web
site and this group!

Have a good week,

Natalia Cava, M.S., C.L.C.
