With this being Breast Cancer Awareness month, I was just researching some
articles to use at a display that our Provincial Committee is doing, at a
Breast Cancer Fun Run.

I found this announcement of Breast Cancer research funding on the Canadian
Breast Cancer Network site at http://www.cbcn.ca/english/

Prevention is the best medicine: Canadian scientists awarded $5.6 million to
study how breast cancer starts and what women can do to decrease their risk
of the disease

"There is no cure for breast cancer, but for some women, there may be ways
to stop it before it starts. Canadians scientists are taking a lead role in
examining lifestyle and environmental factors that cause breast cancer, and
how women can be proactive to decrease their risk of the disease."

"This is the largest Canadian research competition on record which
specifically targets the etiology and primary prevention of breast cancer,"
says Dr. Marilyn Schneider, executive director of the Canadian Breast Cancer
Research Initiative. "Our intent is to sponsor grants that produce
information women can use in their daily lives to decrease their risk of
breast cancer. Women want to take control of their health. CBCRI wants to
give them the tools and the scientific knowledge they demand"

Of the grants listed, none makes any mention of breastfeeding. (Big
surprise, I have yet to see any Breast Cancer information make any mention
of breastfeeding, here in Canada, although I have heard of some articles and
pamphlets that point out the connection, in the United States).
(On this site, I also asked for any information on connections between
Breast Cancer and breastfeeding, I haven't heard anything back).
