" After reading Jodi Kantor's article about airplane traveling restrictions
I was wondering other than sending the pumped milk in dry ice what else can
these mothers do? Is any organization planning to do something? I was
thinking doing something like sitting down with TSA and explaining this
very special situation. Is La Leche League planning to do anything? Who
else? It broke my heart to have to read that in spite of a lot of effort
some babies will have to receive formula due to the current restrictions
about transporting breast milk. Who knows some babies might get used to
the formula and not want the breastmilk after a while? What else can happen?"

I haven't seen anything banning breastmilk from being transported on airplanes. I was at the airport
twice last week and the sign said breastmilk and formula are allowed.
Mothers who travel without their infants can certainly pack a small cooler with ice packs inside
their checked luggage with no problems. Even if a trip is going to take several hours, ice packs should keep frozen milk fine in a cooler.

Milk banks ship milk everyday without any problems.
