In three circumstances that I can recall, I've had women with fungal or
bacterial infections using the Pump in Style and not be able to heal the
crack in spite of treating the nipple with appropriate care.  In all cases,
transferring them to rental grade pumps for a week or so allowed them to
heal.  They were then able to return to using the PNS and experienced good
results.  I don't have any idea why this would be significant, although I've
speculated about pressure release cycles being just slightly different --
i.e. maybe there is just slightly longer sustained neg. pressure application
to nipple surface.  I'd be sure to treat the crack for bacterial over-growth
as well, because maybe it isn't the pump at all.  Maybe the crack has gotten
