My sister-in-law was rushed to the ER last night with a severe migraine
headache. She is currently nursing a 7 month-old who is eating some
solids. She was given several drugs, none of which helped. Finally,
she was given an injection of Imitrex (Sumatriptan).

The ER doc told her to not to bf for 24 hours. Needless to say, when she
called me this am, I was very suspicious.

A quick glance in 98-99 Hale reassured us and after 8 stressful hours,
mother and baby are happily nursing again.

My question is, the information in the 98-99 Hale is specific to a
one-time injection. Does anyone have information regarding this drug in
a tablet form? How much would variations in dosage affect maternal
plasma levels? Any help is greatly appreciated!
