Speaking from personal experience only. After baby #4 my hormones where
very out of balance, creating painful intercourse and vaginal walls so thin
that they would bleed from any contact. This did not occur immediately
post-partum, perhaps when baby was around 6 months. I was dismissed by
traditional MD's, but sought help from a local naturopath who dealt in
German homeopathics, Chinese medicine and a variety of other things. TBH I
don't remember exactly what he recommended (I trust him so didn't
re-research everything he offered) but it worked fabulously -- truly
amazing. If mom is willing to look into complimentary medicine she may find
other options than wean or live with it.
