Hello
Atlast I have subscribed to Lacnet and I'm fascinated by the amount of mail.
I would like to comment about the baby Jean saw with jaw clenching. Its not quite the
same as I saw a few weeks ago but in the baby I saw it was as if the jaw dislocated with
each suck. Occassionally with changes in attachment technique the crunch of the jaw
would stop, particularly for the first minute or so, then it would start again causing painful
nipple compression.
Even after the first visit to the osteopath the suck started to improve. We are finding that
when there has been a traumatic (forceps or ventouse extraction ) birth or when the birth
is very rapid that osteopathy is a great adjunct to our work in teaching attachment
techniques to women to overcome nipple trauma.
