It seems baby lost right at 14 percent by Day 5. After that he gained an
average of 40 grams per day for the next 5 days. His weight loss was
definitely high, however mom must have had a good milk surge and supply and
baby was feeding well to be gaining the weight back. His 40 gram per day
pattern is good, IMO.
The fact that his blood sugars were good during his early hours/days, is
also reassuring.
It may take a bit longer to regain to birthweight. I am really not sure
about the growth curves and how to plot and follow him. I would try to find
a paper on macrosomia / LGA infants in the pediatric literature, for
guidance on that, as I know there have been healthy babies that big and
bigger.
