Dear Drs.Jack & Tom,
I just got off the phone with a mother who called because she used cocaine
this morning around three am . She has a 7 and a half month old baby and
this child is pretty much totally breastfed. She was able to get the baby to
eat some solids this morning but of course this baby is inconsolable because
she wants to nurse, and mother has wisely not done so. She was able to get
her to take a bottle early this morning also. She is pumping and dumping in
the mean time. She said she was drinking with some friends who came over to
play cards and she then told me who she had done something very bad and had
done 4 lines of cocaine. She said she had never done this before and feels
that she has done something awful. She called "Ask A Nurse" and they told
her
36 hours. I looked in Dr. Hales book and it says that this drug can be
redistributed from the brain for up to a week. Your thoughts are
appreciated. I gets calls for alcohol and hair coloring but this is a new
