Gonneke:  No, this isn't a joke.  There was a vendor demonstrating 
the "nursing nest" with her 7 month-old son at the ILCA conference in 
Chicago last year.  Quite a few people seemed interested in the concept.  I 
was asked by our nursery educator and manager if this is something we 
should have available in the hospital to increase safe sleeping while the 
mom/baby were still in the hospital.  I personally feel that the baby would 
be more likely to fall out of the narrow hospital bed in a nursing nest 
than if he were tucked up against his mother.  This product decreases the 
skin-to-skin interaction between mom and baby.  Might be helpful, though, 
to make a mom feel more secure co-sleeping at home.
