Teresa,

I was interested to hear about the produce boxes you can purchase. Here in Madison we have a similar option during the growing season. It's called Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). There are several local farms and you can purchase a "share". Each farm has its own set of choices, but subscribers are treated to a weekly or biweekly box of fresh fruits and veggies from a local farm. We pick ours up at a house near where we live. We've done it for 2 years now and are really enjoying it. It is especially fun to hear our kids (ages 8 and 11) ask for a snack of salad turnips or a breakfast of sauteed sunchokes and fresh spinach!

For those of you in the U.S. who may be interested in trying this out, Googling "Community Supported Agriculture" will give you a link to a USDA website where you can search for farms nationwide.

I have no financial interest in CSA's, just a deep appreciation for what subscribing to one has done for my family and our eating habits!
