While I don't regularly watch this show (I don't like the way she jumps to
conclusions even though I agree with some of them), I did happen to catch it
yesterday. One case was a woman suing another for slapping her in the face.
It seems while the plaintiff was waiting (with a rather large party of
diners) for a table, the defendant sat down in the only empty seat on the
"waiting bench" and began to nurse. The plaintiff (who was a loudmouth in
many respects other than this incident) started berating the mother telling
her she should "do that in the bathroom". The mother (defendant) told her
to shut up and leave her alone, but the plaintiff continued eventually
getting right in the mom's face at which point the mom slapped the plaintiff
in the face. I was waiting for JJ to give the mom a piece of her mind about
breastfeeding in public (and a 14 month old at that) especially after JJ
stated, "I never breastfed and all my kids turned out fine!" I was glad,
however, that she pointed out that the mom was well within her rights
(although she did seem to feel that the "public display" wasn't
appropriate). Unfortunately, the mom did have to pay because she had hit
the other woman. She tried to get JJ to answer her question of how close
someone could get to your face before you have the right to defend yourself,
but that question was sidestepped. The plaintiff was reprimanded for her
obnoxious behavior in general including her behavior toward the nursing mom.

While the nursing mom lost on the basis of her having done the slapping
while the other woman only used verbal behavior, I was glad to see that in a
small way, the woman's right to nurse where and when her infant needeed was
defended and the fact that it was a 14 month old didn't seem to be a factor
at all.
