I'd suggest CST or some type of somato emotional release for him and for
mom  to wear him during
the day and co-bed with him at night. Perhaps one of the Bach remedies
could help, specific to fear, abandonment. If it is physical pain there are
homeopathic remedies for healing like calendula and arnica that could be
used or better still a homeopath prescribing would be best. In my opinion
this baby needs to regain trust and being with mommy, more nursing, and
understanding that it will pass once baby can process it may help mom to
understand.
~~~ Lots of good perspective already, ruling out physical pain as well. One
 thing that jumped out is that cranial surgery might lead to a domino
affect of  sorts where as some structures move differently, others also have to
adapt.  Figuring out how to work with that can be both frustrating and
energy-consuming,  so skin-to-skin and breastfeeding can help a baby organize,
calm, etc. Also if  there is anything shifting or adjusting and there is jaw
compensation as the  tongue or jaw moves in a new way, then lots of nursing
can be a sort of  stabilizing activity to deal with unpredictability and
reorganization. The CST  or other gentle bodywork would be a gentle, non-invasive
way to see if the baby  can move along the continuum of resetting both
emotional and physical issues  that have experienced upheaval ( if that makes
any sense....)
Peace,
Judy
