Hi, All: Very interesting posts to this topic! I find it useful when talking with
moms about anything, to word my conversation with her in such a way that I
am talking in generalities. I use phrases like: "some or many moms may
experience...in a similar situation" or " I have had other moms tell me...". This
way the information is less likely to be perceived as a personal failure or
deficiency by the mother. It also gives her hope that her particular experience
might be different. It is not fair to her or her baby not to lay out all
possibilities or options to her. Informing her of ALL the available possibilities
only helps her make the decisions that are right for her.
