Kim,

I think that Dr. Sears does a decent job in "The Baby Book" of selling
breastfeeding and then including a chapter on bottlefeeding that
basically says: "If you're still not convinced about breastfeeding and
are determined not to listen to what I've been saying - here is how to
bottlefeed "correctly"" - words to that effect. Remember that some of
these women may breastfeed for a brief time if you are careful not to
alienate them. They might remember you as the nice woman who gave them
the facts about breastfeeding without giving them a hard time about NOT
breastfeeding. They might be a little more amenable to trying
breastfeeding - however briefly OR breastfeed a subsequent child later
because of your brilliant presentation of breastfeeding and
non-judgemental approach.

IMHO, women who have no intention of breastfeeding need our gentle
support and little nudges to move them toward breastfeeding at their own
pace. It is always easier to preach to the choir than it is to convert
the disbelievers. Your presentation on breastfeeding may be the only good
breastfeeding information these women get. Even if these particular women
never breastfeed - you have planted a seed and you never know when or how
it might sprout.
