have come across a third woman complaining of exreme exaustion when she
breastfeeds, especially after the feed, and unbearably so for the 3 days
before her peroid and the entire week of. All thyroid, iron, etc has been
checked. Of course I told her she does not know that she would for sure
feel better if she stopped BF, but she is absolutely at her wits end. >>

Jessica,
How old is this baby? Are all 3 babies about the same age and are all women
relating this to menstruation? Borderline low thyroid levels can only be
accurately assessed by basal body temperature and do not show up on routine
screening. She could certainly check this out. Perhaps she has a hormone
imbalance or is deficient in certain nutrients. Is she taking any vitamins or
supplements? What is her diet like? If she is eating a very high carb (or
high sugar) diet, she could be having glycemic swings which could make her
feel this way.
