I know this is not really to do with bf, so if people would respond to
me off-list I would appreciate it...but I am wondering if anyone has
information about pre-partum depression, treating it, and people who are
susceptible to the hormonal changes during pregnancy.

I know someone who had *terrible* PMS symptoms and very bad body-image
as a teen, and it all evened out more when she went on Depo Provera with
very little estrogen going through her body. Fast forward to now, and
pregnant...there seems to be quite a bit of depression, body image
problems etc. despite this being very much a "wanted" baby...lots of
morning sickness keeping her from doing as much exercise as she normally
would do to keep fit (i.e. 10 km runs!). Her mother was a nurse in a
past life and another country, though is no longer practicing and is
wondering as well if there are any anti-depressive drugs that are
compatible with pregnancy. A quick look in Hales at one, Paxil, says
"B" which ought to be relatively safe...but I'm wondering more if there
are any other options out there, whether others have been through this,
or know someone who has, etc.

I'm sorry for the rather off-topic question, but I know the mom can't
help but wonder if her daughter is "this bad" during pregnancy, how is
it going to be afterwards with a new baby???

Thanks in advance,

Fio
