Dear Lactnet Friends:

I had chicken pox as a kid. Breastfed my girls for years each.

#1 girl got chicken pox at about 2 years of age. Very mild case, about 3
pox.

#2 girl was taken at age 3.5 years to a girlfriend's house where all 4 of
her children had it. My toddler got a nice healthy dose of it, and we got
through the few tough days with warm baths, lots of nursing, and liquid
diphenhydramine.

But. . . .at age 17, #1 girl got a powerful dose of chicken pox from her
sister. She had pox everywhere, even inside her vagina. She was furious
with me as this was the month before her senior prom! She recovered and
enjoyed her prom.

warmly,
