I also want to commend this mother's self-control and the ability to get the
results that SHE needed with the method she chose.

Having been in this "business" for a LONG time, I have seen both the
"Lactivist" and the "quiet diplomacy" work very well...as well as OTHER
methods such as "the broken record" and "the eternal presence" (which seems
to be MY forte).

Just like when we are planning educational activities, we need to decide
what is the OUTCOME we want prior to deciding what method we want to use.

Our dearly missed LLLI Legal/Family court expert, Liz Ballwin, was one of
the FIRST to point out to us that if our goal was what was best for the
baby, many times we had to compromise even BREASTFEEDING (horrors) to
maintain a balance in the family dynamics (yes, it is still a family as long
as mom and dad are living and wanting to be involved in their child's life).
(example: http://www.llli.org/Law/LawDivorce.html)

I have even seen the total destructiveness of involving more and more legal
or media experts in issues that could be resolved with less acrimony and in
a win-win situation through other methods.

Too often we are "enamored" with a METHOD instead of a GOAL - this is
something I have come to learn vary late in life. I've been using the
method I'm most comfortable with, rather than the one that is the most
effective - whether in dealing with issues of "rights" or in education, such
as what was earlier discussed!
