Can anyone pin down for me the reference used when we say that breastfed babies should gain 4-8 oz /week the first 3-5 months and then 3-5oz/week after that?  I have a mom whose Ped is insisting that her twins gain a pound a week and she is freaked out because they only gained 14 oz!!!!!! I am looking for a research article if at all possible.
