Miriam commented on her experience of no nightmares or night terrors with
either of her children when responded to during the night. I'll increase the
sample size to 4 but have to say even with long-time breastfeeding and the
family bed, we had a definite problem with night terrors. Not nightmares
mind you, which usually a child awakens from and can remember, but night
terrors which can be so frightening to parents and anyone else within hearing
distance and of which a child has no memory. Our first child started around
2 years of age with them and they continued until she was around 6. Two of
her siblings had a few episodes but nothing quite as often or as scary as
hers and our youngest, I don't think, ever had one. I do believe that
ordinary nightmares have been very few and far between, thank goodness!
