Hi, all:  For whoever asked about studies on any relationship between
abuse and breastfeeding, I tried to e-mail it to you privately but it got
to the wrong person.  I have a news item about a study done by Louise
Acheson, MD, published in the Archives of Family Medicine
(1995;4:650-2).  I have not read the study, but the news item related
that "women who did not breastfeed their newborns were 38 times more
likely to have been battered or sexually abused, or have children who
were abused, than breastfeeding women."  Hope this helps.  Alicia.
