Hren, I., Mis, N. F., Brecelj, J., Čampa, A. Š., Sedmak, M., Kržišnik, 
C., & Koletzko, B. (2009). Effects of formula supplementation in 
breast‐fed infants with failure to thrive. /Pediatrics International/, 
/51/(3), 346-351.

Infants took less breast milk once supplemented with formula.

This is the only article I have found that documents this effect. If 
anyone else has citations I'd be very interested to see them.
