As a former milk bank director and HMBANA board member I just want to make a
few comments. More milk banks are opening and the need for donor milk is
still high. The people who volunteer and run the milk banks work very hard
and send much needed milk to sick infants and adults. The milk is used in
hospital NICUs for those moms who don't have enough milk for their baby for
one reason or another. The processing fee is often waived or collected from
the insurance company if possible. I think a non profit organization
deserves to be recognized for the hard work and many hours that are spent
collecting, processing and sending milk to those in need. A for profit
organization is a very different process than non profit. HMBANA milk banks
do not make money or sell milk. Resources are limited and fund raisers are
used to help support the work that is done. HMBANA will remain strong and
viable because of women who donate and people who work very hard to help the
sick and in need.

Thank you,
