Baby exclusively breastfed and 6 mos old. Consultant had mom cold-turkey
switch to exclusive pumping and she was to feed the baby 6 oz of expressed
milk via bottle 4x/day. She was also to increase solids significantly.
Yup--no breastfeeding and no nighttime feeds by any method as baby
"transitioned" to the new schedule.

Mother called me about her dwindling supply (surprise surprise...)

PLEASE tell me this is atypical for sleep training plans!

Hi Jessica,

The local guru doc with multiple practice locations full of "hirelings"
who adhere to his philosophy all seem to say this at the 2 month visit:
Baby is 2 months old, and should not need to eat at night
No feeding for 10-12 hours, also cold turkey
I've seen FTT once ( baby learned her cries for nurturing at night would
be ignored, so pretty much stopped asking during the day as well, this baby
also had a tongue tie that had not been a problem until the "training"
doubled the amount she needed per feeding) and slow gain other times ,
increases in reflux( since now baby has to eat all his/her food within a 12 hour
period), and decreases in milk supply.
Sometimes I can't believe this isn't malpractice. Sleep consultant...Bah.

Peace,
Judy
