The teacher in the new cartoon Ninjago (I have to watch it with my 7 year
old every Wednesday night) asked the question: "How do you defeat your
enemies?"

The answer is "Make them your friend."
~~~ Hello all,
I think the teacher "lovingly lifted" that quote from Abraham Lincoln.  :)
I don't disagree with it, but a possible first step is also to actually
"call them out" on their unprofessional behavior. They have demeaned a
colleague's expertise and shown both ignorance and disrespect for a subject that
is a major public health issue. Would this kind of snide remarking be
tolerated  if the issue were bipolar disorder, or erectile dysfunction, or bladder
 incontinence issues? I don't think so. It takes a long time to be able to
think  quickly when taken aback by someone's
callousness/childishness/unprofessionalism, but if it happens again, a quick  "wow that was rude- you
sound like you don't have any respect for me at all" can  go a long way to at
least naming the offense AS an offense. It can also make  sure that rude
"under the breath" comments don't get lost. They get named. The  way a person
responds to be called out helps us know how to tailor our follow-up  approach.
Just my thoughts,
Peace,
Judy
